An access log includes a record of all the files which have been requested by the visitors while exploring your website. The list is detailed, so if you have a web page with two embedded images, for example, all of the three files will be in the log, not just the page. An access log normally includes the date, the Operating System, the web browser and the IP address for every single file in human-readable form, so you can get a good idea about the hottest files on your website. The log, that's also commonly referred to as "raw data", is an addition to the web stats that you normally get with a hosting account, not an alternative. An illustration why you may need this type of a log is if you would like to use some software on your computer system to prepare a report about the website’s overall performance, but you don't want to use the regular graphs and tables that come with the server-generated site statistics.
Access Log Manager in Website Hosting
If you get a website hosting from us, you'll be able to decide if access logs must be created and for which domains or subdomains in your account this should be done. You can enable this feature from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, integrated with all shared accounts. Each and every domain name you host or subdomain you set up shall be listed there and you see an On/Off option next to each one of them, so you can effortlessly enable or disable the generation of access logs independently for every site that you have. You can save a log to your computer by clicking on the Download link that you'll see inside the same exact section of the Control Panel. The link shall be available even if you stop the log generation, so you will still have access to the data collected by our system.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our state-of-the-art hosting platform shall create access logs for every Internet site hosted in a semi-dedicated server account, provided that this feature is enabled. All domain names and subdomains that you have shall be listed within the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, that we offer with all the accounts, so if you would like our system to start generating logs for each of them, you should simply click on the little button on the right side of the respective domain/subdomain and switch the default Off option to On. You can stop this function anytime by following exactly the same steps. You will find a Download link for each and every log in the same section of the Control Panel, so you could save the content gathered by our system in .txt format with simply a mouse click. An existing log file can be downloaded even after the option has been deactivated, so you'll still be able to view the data that's already been generated.
